Valdorcia Sarteano Aglioni Aglioni

Val d'Orcia is a picturesque region located in the province of Siena, Tuscany, Italy. This area is renowned for its natural beauty, rolling hilly landscapes, well-preserved medieval villages and traditional agricultural crops.

Territory: The Val d'Orcia is characterized by a hilly topography and offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Tuscan countryside. This territory is crossed by the Orcia river, from which it takes its name, and is surrounded by hills and mountains that offer a series of exceptional panoramic views, including Mount Cetona, at the foot of which, in the middle of a forest, we grow our organic garlic .

The landscapes of the Val d'Orcia were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2004 for their beauty and authenticity.

In fact, the Val d'Orcia offers numerous well-preserved medieval villages, including Pienza, Montalcino, Montepulciano and, of course, Sarteano. These villages offer a rich cultural, architectural and gastronomic history. Visitors can explore the narrow cobbled streets, visit ancient churches and enjoy local cuisine in traditional restaurants, sampling pici all'aglione , an incredibly tasty typical dish made with garlic. Furthermore, the region also offers many opportunities for hiking and cycling through its picturesque vineyards and fields.

Our cultivar and our shop are located in Sarteano , one of the municipalities of Val d'Orcia. The terrain in this area is predominantly hilly, with clayey and calcareous, semi-volcanic soils. This combination of soils contributes to the production of excellent wines and olive oil, making the area ideal for agriculture. The hills and valleys offer ideal conditions for the cultivation of grapes, olive trees, cereals and vegetables, among which the giant Aglione stands out.
